FAQ
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How does it work? We’ll ask you about your venue, audience, and any specific requirements you may have (style of comedy, age, gender, G/PG/R rating, etc.) Then we’ll work with you to create the best show possible. All you have to do is take a moment to fill out our inquiry form so we can get started.
How much does it cost? Cost varies greatly depending on the type of show, venue, and other factors. No matter what your budget, we work hard to customize a show that meets your needs.
Are there a lot of technical requirements? Most shows require some basic sound equipment and the ability to change lighting (i.e., cast less light on the audience, and more light on the performers). If you have access to such equipment, great – if not, we can provide it for a nominal fee. Improv or musical comedy shows may require additional equipment (keyboard amplification, wireless mics, etc.) depending on the venue.
What else do the performers need? A straight mic stand and a wooden stool are useful. It’s always great to have a separate area to hang out in (“green room”), some bottled water, and some food if the show is happening around dinnertime – but we’re pretty flexible.
Who does the marketing and publicity? If you’re not doing a company party, you’re probably looking to attract a crowd. Vermont Comedy Club typically tag-teams these responsibilities with the venue.
We provide you with a poster, press release, and social media support, and you hang the posters, submit the press release, and talk the show up in your community.
Can I pair a daytime workshop with an evening show? Absolutely. We offer improv (team building), standup, and musical theater workshops for teens and adults. Let us know what you’re interested in when you fill out our inquiry form.
Is a deposit required? It depends on the situation. For larger shows (benefits, corporate parties, etc.) or those where significant travel is involved, we generally ask for a 50% deposit at least 30 days in advance of the show. For smaller or more local performances sometimes this deposit is waived.
How should I pay? We generally require payment in cash the night of the performance unless another arrangement has been made in advance.
